Founder, Director of Clinical Services
Raj Bhattacharjee, M.A., R. P., Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health
Why am I so out of control?
What can I do to get rid of this sadness?
While in India, Raj had the incredible opportunity to work with His Holiness, the 17th Karmapa of Tibet, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, preparing the material for a book bringing together the ancient mindfulness and compassion practices of Tibetan Buddhist psychology with evidence-based Western psychotherapy.
Raj has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a specialization in mental health and addiction. He also has training in non-violent crisis intervention.
Clinical Therapist
Tara Mesensky, B.A., J.D., Advanced Diploma in Contemplative Psychotherapy
Tara is a former family lawyer as well as one of the Radiant Mind counsellors in the program. As a law professional, Tara has deep experience in mediation and collaborative conflict resolution.
Drawing from these skills and experience, along with her CINERGY® Conflict Coach training and Advanced Diploma in Contemplative Psychotherapy, she offers insights to help individuals navigate personal and relational challenges – so that they can break free of old patterns and live without guilt, anxiety and fear.
Is this the life I really signed up for?
Why do I always feel like I am two steps behind?
How can I become less anxious and make this continuous worry and knot in my stomach go away?
Tara adopts a client-centred approach to counselling and ensures that you feel seen, right where you are. She creates a ‘safe container’, enabling individuals to communicate their thoughts and feelings, and holding space for you to unload your burdens. Her practice, rooted in Contemplative Psychology, incorporates mindfulness, compassion, and somatic-based modalities.
Tara has completed a two-year clinical Diploma Program in Contemplative Psychotherapy with the Institute of Traditional Medicine/The Nalanda Institute. The Nalanda Institute Contemplative Psychotherapy Program, directed by Dr. Joe Loizzo, MD, PhD, is the leading certification program in the West for integrating mindfulness and compassion-based meditation practices and Buddhist psychology with contemporary psychotherapy and current neuropsychology.

What sets Radiant Mind Recovery apart is its genuinely holistic approach. The program understands that recovery goes beyond simply eliminating addictive behaviors; it is about healing the entire person—emotionally, mentally, and physically. I am particularly impressed by the program’s focus on fostering self-compassion and building healthy relationships, which are often overlooked in traditional recovery settings. The program’s emphasis on long-term recovery ensures that clients are not just given temporary solutions, but practical tools they can carry with them long after the program concludes.
As a psychotherapist, I have witnessed firsthand the complexities of addiction and the challenges faced by those in recovery. What makes Radiant Mind Recovery stand out is its commitment to addressing these challenges from a holistic perspective, offering not just a path to sobriety, but a journey toward complete well-being. What resonates with me most is the program’s focus on helping individuals cultivate self-compassion and resilience, which are essential for maintaining long-term recovery. The environment that Radiant Mind Recovery fosters is one of safety and support. Participants are encouraged to engage with the program at their own pace, within a compassionate, non-judgmental space that honors their unique experiences. This is not just about overcoming addiction; it’s about building a stronger, more balanced life, equipped with the skills needed to navigate future challenges.
Most addiction treatment programs are either restricted to in person therapy or they focus mostly on physical symptoms. Radiant Mind Recovery stands out by its holistic approach and spiritual aspects. The program offers a key element - a community support continuing beyond the 6 weeks therapy. The psychoeducation built in element is essential in teaching clients skills to cope. This is a rich and intensive program, if you make it your priority and actively participate, you will achieve results exceeding your expectations. This program is not a quick fix, rather a healthier way of living with relapse prevention. Both instructors are genuinely good people and experienced professionals who take your wellbeing at heart. I am a Clinical Counsellor specializing in spirituality and I refer all my clients with substance use to Radiant Mind Recovery with high confidence!
